We're looking for a direct response video editor who can produce 1-3 performance ads per day — consistently, quickly, and without hand-holding.You'll receive reference ads, raw footage, AI-generated visuals, voiceover audio, product photography, UGC clips, and creative briefs. Your job is to turn those inputs into scroll-stopping Meta ads that look native to the feed, follow direct response principles, and are ready to launch same-day.Some days you'll get a detailed brief with every asset handed to you. Other days you'll get a reference ad and a direction — and you'll need to reverse-engineer the structure, build a visual concept, and deliver a finished ad using your own creative instincts. This is not a 9-to-5 editing job. This is a performance marketing role that happens to live inside an editing timeline. What You'll Be DoingEditing 1-3 short-form video ads per day (15-60 seconds) for Meta placementsWorking with a mix of UGC footage, AI-generated imagery, 3D medical-style animations, product photography, voiceover tracks, and b-rollReceiving reference ads and reverse-engineering their pacing, structure, visual rhythm, and caption systems to build VelorHealth versionsBuilding ads from creative briefs that include scripts, shot lists, visual direction, and caption specsOriginating new ad concepts when given only a direction or angle — proposing visual treatments, caption styles, and pacing without being told exactly what to doImplementing caption systems with color-coded text (white/red/blue pill captions, green keyword highlights, auto-generated TikTok-style captions) depending on the ad formatCutting multiple versions of the same ad (hook variants, length variants, aspect ratio variants) for A/B testingMaintaining a fast turnaround — most ads should go from brief to finished export within 2-4 hoursOrganizing and managing a growing library of raw assets, finished ads, and creative templatesWhat You NeedProven experience editing direct response or performance marketing video ads (not brand content, not music videos, not wedding films — direct response ads that ran on Meta or TikTok with measurable results)Fluency in CapCut, Premiere Pro, or After Effects — whichever you're fastest inStrong understanding of Meta ad formats — you know what a native feed ad looks like versus a produced commercial, and you default to nativeAbility to match reference ad pacing intuitively — if we send you a competitor ad, you can deconstruct its cut timing, caption rhythm, and visual structure without being taughtComfort working with AI-generated imagery and integrating it seamlessly into live footage and product photographyExperience with caption styling — you've built caption systems before (color-coded, keyword-highlighted, timed to VO) and you understand that captions are a conversion tool, not an accessibility afterthoughtA sharp eye for thumbnail-level scroll-stopping — you understand that the first frame of a video ad is a static image in the feed and you treat it accordinglyAbility to self-manage, meet daily output targets, and communicate proactively when something is unclear or delayedReliable internet connection and availability during US business hours (ET or CT preferred but flexible for the right person)Bonus (Not Required)Experience editing ads in the health, wellness, fitness, or DTC supplement spaceFamiliarity with the \"ugly ad\" aesthetic — ads intentionally designed to look like organic UGC rather than polished productionExperience with motion graphics or basic After Effects animation (for text overlays, simple transitions, or kinetic typography)Understanding of direct response copywriting principles (you know why a hook matters, why the product should appear early, why the CTA needs to sound like a peer recommendation)What You Don't NeedA film degreeA fancy reel of cinematic workExperience at a big agencyColor grading expertiseWe care about speed, instinct, and output quality at volume. If your best work is a single beautifully-graded 3-minute brand film, this isn't the right fit. If your best work is 47 Meta ads you cut last month that all drove profitable ROAS, we want to talk to you.CompensationCompetitive rate based on experience. This is a contract role with potential to grow into a long-term position as the brand scales. We value speed and consistency — editors who hit daily output targets reliably will have no shortage of work. How To ApplyThere will be a paid test before any hire is made. Here's how it works:Apply with your portfolio. Send 3-5 examples of direct response video ads you've edited that actually ran on Meta or TikTok. Tell us the niche, the objective, and the result if you have it. We don't need a sizzle reel — we need proof you've done this before. If your portfolio fits, we'll send you a paid test project. You'll receive a reference ad, a script, raw assets (footage, images, voiceover), and a creative brief. You'll have 24 hours to deliver a finished ad. This test is paid regardless of whether you're hired. We evaluate the test on four criteria: Did you match the pacing and structure of the reference?Did the first frame stop the scroll?Did the captions and visual rhythm support the VO?Did you deliver on time?If the test passes, you start with a one-week trial at 1 ad per day. If that week goes well, we scale to full output. We're not looking for perfection. We're looking for someone who ships fast, learns from references quickly, and gets better with every ad they cut.To apply, send your portfolio and a brief note about your direct response editing experience to (your email) with the subject line \"DR Editor — (Your Name).\"
